well now that it's november....
last week was a very pleasing week in the country, well allover the country really, the country being Scotland (which prefers to think of itself as a country, and is building an architecturally brilliant parliament building for £400m so i allowed to say that)
From Edinburgh (where i am now and have been for 2 months) through Perth, to Inverness, West to Portree on the Isle of Skye, then seven hours of bus to Glasgow, Carlisle (now we're in England, which also has it's own parliament), Greenhead (my Hadrian's Wall stop) and finally to Newcastle before the trip home. I only brought my day pack, for the week of travel and fared rather well.
Problem: now Edinburgh seems so, well... done. Whatever shall i do?
Tom has Winnipeg friends arriving in town for a couple months, which i imagine will change the dynamics a smidge, perhaps for the better? Not that they're bad, just, well... old.

It's tuesday. There has been precious little to do at work for two days. Tomorrow is wandering around taking pictures of kiddies showing up for the campus tour. After that i have a week and a half left of this particular career and a goal to set this crazy recruitment site live. In case you've missed, I'm working at Edinburgh Unversity, originally fixing various content errors in the Engineering Department's website. I've since been promoted to design and build a 'flashy' recruitment site for the faculty. talk about learning curve! new technologies learned from scratch so far: CSS, SSI and variable content. not to mention my new world of hard-coded HTML skills :)
And for those of who who could care less about geeky stuff: I finished No Logo yesterday. An insightful tretise on brands, globalization and gernal leftwing sentiments, providing me with an interesting new outlook on the graphics stuff that i do.
...and apparently i got a package in the mail today! that should be good fun! THANKS

Welcome to an all new version of My Great Adventure, by rick.
As you may have noticed, TheLog.org, has decided that i have not written anything for the past 3 months and deleted the only record of my trip that i have, after the tragic loss of my original journal.
Since this is strike 4 for the venerable TheLog, we're gonna give the world renound Blogger a shot, which may just inspire me to redo my own website, on which i can apply the log and have a little more control over my own destiny.
Enjoy!
